Ben Affleck, Actor

Ben Affleck was born Benjamin Géza Affleck-Boldt on August 15, 1972 in Berkeley, California. Ben is an actor, director, and screenwriter. Ben and his younger brother, Casey, who is also an actor, were very young when the family moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts where his parents divorced in 1984. It was while he was living there that he met his good friend, Matt Damon, who grew up in the same neighbourhood.
He started out as a child actor and worked on a number of ‘made for television’ movies but became a household name in 1997 after the success of ‘Good Will Hunting’. He and Matt Damon wrote the screenplay after they became disappointed with the roles that they were being offered. They both appeared in the film and it was nominated for nine Oscars and winning two for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Robin Williams.
Ben has had a chequered film career from massive box office flops like ‘Gigli’, in which he starred alongside his then fiancée, Jennifer Lopez, to box office smashes like ‘Pearl Harbor’. In December 2008, he worked on a United Nations short film about the plight of refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He travelled to the country and interviewed politicians, refugees and even warlords.
Ben is a high profile campaigner for the Democratic Party. In 2000, he campaigned with Hillary Clinton, who was then running for Senate in New York and openly supported Al Gore in his presidential campaign against George W. Bush. He is married to actress, Jennifer Garner, and the couple have two daughters.
