Actor
Bruce Willis was born Walter Bruce Willis in West Germany on 19th March 1955. His father David was an American soldier and his mother Marlene is German. Bruce was the eldest of four children. His career as an actor came after various bartending jobs and a stint as a private investigator.
He first came to our attention in 1985 proving his comedic skills in the hit TV detective show ‘Moonlighting’ alongside Cybill Shepherd, but is probably best known for playing Detective John McClane in the ‘Die Hard’ series of films, the first of which hit our screens in 1988 closely followed in 1990 by ‘Die Hard 2’. The series now totals four films. In 1991, Bruce became a co-found of the Planet Hollywood chain of restaurants along with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.
Another high point came in 1994 with the release of Quentin Tarantino’s hit ‘Pulp Fiction’. Following on from the cult hit, he played leads in both ‘Twelve Monkeys’ and ‘The Fifth Element’. 1998 saw yet another career saving movie for him with the highest grossing film of the year, ‘Armageddon’; in 1999 he played the lead in the massively successful ‘The Sixth Sense’. Bruce returned to comedy with roles in ‘The Whole Nine Yards’ and an Emmy Award winning guest role in the hit TV series ‘Friends’.
Bruce married actress Demi Moore in 1987 and they have three children. The couple divorced amicably in 2000 and remain friends. He went on to romance a string of ladies until March 2009 when he married British model and actress Emma Heming.
