Capelet Knitting

Knitting is a technique in which yarn or thread may become cloth. There are several patterns in knitting which include the capelet knitting pattern, also referred as collar or cape patterns. This pattern is frequently needed for trendsetting purposes. There are also various patterns for creating capelets, and one can vary the length or include a collar to any capelet for a different style or type.

Here is an example of capelet knitting. The materials needed are one skein of fashionable yarns, either Yosemite or approximately 77 yards of thick-and-thin wool combination, a pair of size 50 needles, scissors, a tapestry needle or crochet hook, ribbon (optional). The stitching needles must be large enough to make two knits in an inch. Spread on 15 stitches, using the long-tail spread-on technique. Leave an extension of six to eight inches when you desire to use the yarn itself. Work in garter stitch up to the needed length or till you are out of yarn. If you wish to utilise the yarn as a tie, make sure you finish the last row so that the beginning and the finishing tails are on the same part of your work. Then, bind off freely and trim the yarn if needed. Again, place a tail and simply interlace the ends slowly if you wish to use the yarn as a tie, but if not you need to weave it in. If you like, rather than using a yarn, you can add a ribbon to the top.

Nowadays, knitting is not just a grandmother’s hobby, but an activity for youngsters who are also happy to do it.
