Choosing The food for your Reception Part One

The food bill for a wedding reception can often require the largest chunk of your wedding budget. With this in mind you want to really make sure you get good value for your money.
Deciding what type of menu to have for your reception can depend on a number of aspects. Do you wish to have a brunch, afternoon tea, cocktail party or dinner,
Brunch is usually served between mid to late morning and 2pm, and can include anything from pastries, sausages, bacon and eggs to steak with vegetables followed by dessert. It’s still early in the day so your guests may feel able to eat heartily, and because brunches are not as popular as other times it’s usually cheaper in price but not in quality.
Afternoon Tea can be a delightful affair with dainty sandwiches, sausage rolls, pastries, scones with preserves and cream and gorgeous little cakes, which you could have personally designed. Then to top it all off you finish with your stunning wedding cake.
Cocktail parties may create a more elegant, sophisticated feel to your reception. With stunning canapés on beautiful platters, you can have as much variety in what you serve as you wish.
Dinner is often a sit down affair, so you can be a bit more adventurous in your food choice, rather than needing to provide finger food that is easily accessible and easy to hold. Cater to the tastes of the bride and groom and your immediate family. Trying to please 250 guests with their individual tastes can be a logistical nightmare.
