David Beckham

Football Player
David Robert Joseph Beckham was born in Leytonstone, London on 2nd May 1975 and is the son of David and Sandra, a kitchen fitter and hairdresser respectively. He has two sisters and the whole family were big fans of Manchester United football club while David was growing up, regularly attending games at Old Trafford.
His professional football playing career began in 1992 at the age of 17 when he signed a contract with Manchester United. He stayed with them for 11 years, helping them to win numerous cups and premiership titles. In 2003 he signed for Real Madrid and by 2004 was the world’s highest paid footballer. He has won over 100 caps for England, a number of them as team captain.
David has not always been popular with his fans, most notably for his sending off for a deliberate foul during a Manchester United World Club match and fans of LA Galaxy who signed him when he left Real Madrid took exception to the number of games he missed, but he has done a great deal to promote the sport and has launched football academies in both London and Los Angeles.
David married Spice Girl Victoria Adams (Posh Spice) in 1999 after a two year relationship during which they were dubbed ‘Posh and Becks’ by the media. Together they have built up ‘Brand Beckham’ with products ranging from a clothing line to perfume and David has been part of a high profile advertising campaign for Armani. The couple now live in Los Angeles with their three sons.
