Decorating an Aquarium for your Goldfish with Rocks and Wood



Decorating your aquarium is a good thing you can do to make it look nicer, and at the same time, it is also beneficial for the goldfish. A lot of people like adding things such as rocks, wood, plants and gravel in decorating their goldfish’s aquarium. There are lots of things to consider in decorating an aquarium. Here are some ways on how to decorate a goldfish aquarium by using rocks and wood.

Some rocks work great in a goldfish aquarium; however, there are also some that could kill the fish. In choosing the type of rock that you will add, make sure that the rock is comparatively nonporous and hard. Rocks with porous material could pollute the water and poison fish. Limestone must also be avoided because limestone is a soluble rock, which easily dissolves in water.

Decorative rocks can be found in local pet stores. Hard sandstone, slate, and red shale are some examples of rocks which are safe to use for a goldfish aquarium. Also, when you choose rocks for you aquarium, make sure that it has no sharp edges. If you are planning to add more rocks, do not stack them, or else they could cause a small landslide, which could be dangerous for the goldfish. Using driftwood should also be avoided — use petrified wood instead. Petrified wood is available in some of the local pet stores.
