Gap Year in Australia

The vast and varied continent of Australia is easily one of the most popular locations for younger travellers taking a college or career break. The fact that it is an English-speaking nation is one of the great attractions, but across the huge land mass of the continent there is also a wealth of diverse scenery and cities to be experienced.

The main urban centre, Sydney, is usually the first port of call for most visitors, and is where many people make a base when travelling to other parts of the country. Sydney is located on the South Coast near other cities such as Melbourne and Canberra. The majority of visitors then travel east to Brisbane and Bondi Beach.

As well as offering plenty of opportunities to take in the sights, working holidays are extremely popular in Australia, and acquiring a temporary workers visa can be easily arranged. However, there will be certain rules and regulations that will need to be met. Anyone applying for a temporary work visa in Australia must prove that they are in good health, have a clean criminal record and do not pose any threat to the population.

Most of these work visas last for 12 months, but can last for up to 18 months depending on the applicant’s circumstances and qualifications. People who come to work in Australia also often head west to the city of Perth, which lies on the coast and is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. It is also perfectly placed to take in the sights of Western Australia.
