Grumpy Old Women’ National and International Tours

‘Grumpy Old Women’ stars and original characters Dillie Keane, Jenny Éclair, and Linda Robson have made many appearances and tours for the TV series’ promotional activities. In the latter part of their national and international ventures, the three actors were joined by other ‘grumpy women’.

In spring 2006 Dillie, Linda and Jenny started on a national tour in a forty-appearance sell out. Immediately after that hectic but popular tour, the three went straight to the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, for a four-week West End run. Here, the women entertained and comforted many World Cup widows by displaying their acting talents.

The three then continued to roll on. For their autumn tour, following their show at the West End, the ladies met and recruited two new grumpies— Annet Badland and Rhona Cameron.

Along with the newly recruited women, the actors performed for more sell outs at national and later for international tours. This gave them the opportunity to have their first international tour—to Australia. The original three grumpies then reunited for this international gathering.

Popular runs have been booked by the Grumpies for their succeeding international tours. They had heavily subscribed runs in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney. These tours proved that ‘Grumpy Old Woman’ is, without a doubt, a global phenomenon.

All these tours have been very successful. Thousands of women have been going to theatres and leaving men alone at home, not knowing what they would have on the table for dinner. Suddenly, around the world, it became all right for people of all ages, not just those with greying hair, to celebrate the cellulite.
