Karl Lagerfeld Diet

When fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld began to struggle with his weight, he turned to Dr. Jean-Claude Houdret. Dr. Houdret custom designed a plan for Lagerfeld which helped him lose over 92 pounds in the course of a year. They then wrote a book about their experiences which explores the emotional and psychological aspects of over-eating, and offers nutrition and exercise advice designed to help participants lose weight and keep it off.
Lagerfeld’s plan involves a two week extremely low calorie phase one, in which participants are encouraged to keep caloric intake under 900 calories a day. Meals at this stage involve a protein supplement and vegetables. They then move on to phase two where they consume the protein supplement and vegetables, and add a low-fat serving of protein for dinner and serving of low-fat cheese or yoghurt. In phase three, dieters can eat 1200-1600 calories a day and can add a piece of whole grain toast to their breakfast as well as some after dinner fruit.
Lagerfeld focuses on appearance as the main motivator for undertaking a diet plan, and some dieters might be negatively affected by his notion of dieting as a form of punishment. He also emphasizes will power as a strong component of diet success. Nutritionists are concerned by the very low calorie components of this plan, as well as by its complete lack of healthy fats. On this regime, dieters will probably experience some depravation and hunger pains, but they will almost certainly lose some weight.
