Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom, located in Walt Disney World Resort, Florida, is the first theme park that was built inside a resort. It was designed and built by Walt Disney Imagineering (formerly known as WED Enterprises). The park’s layout and tourist attractions are pretty much the same as Disneyland Park in California, but the Magic Kingdom’s area is a lot bigger than that of Disneyland. The park captures the enchantment of fairy tales with classic attractions, exciting entertainment, and beloved Disney characters.

At its opening on October 1, 1971, the park had twenty-three attractions, twenty of which were copied from Disneyland, while three were unique attractions. However, because of the park’s similarity to Disneyland Park, confusion arose with regard to its name. So as to distinguish it from Disneyland, the theme park was officially named “Magic Kingdom Park”.

The resort’s layout placed the park a little far from the parking lot. For the guests’ convenience, the park provides a tramcar in the parking lot, which takes them to the resort’s Transportation and Ticket Centre. This is the facility in charge of selling tickets and providing them with transportation throughout the resort. In order to reach the Magic Kingdom, guests are free to choose either to ride the monorails or the Staten Island-style ferryboats.

At present, the Magic Kingdom has 48 attractions in the park’s themed lands. These lands include Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, and the Mickey’s Toontown Fair. There is the “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique”, where little girls are transformed into precious princesses. Boys, however, can choose the Cool Dudes or Pirates Package. Likewise, gifts, Disney Character apparel, souvenirs, and accessories are in the shop as well.
