Sexual Fantasies



Once people start thinking about sex, they are bound to have some type of fantasy. It can be as simple as thinking about your first kiss or as complex as you want it to be. The very act of having a fantasy is completely normal. When considering acting out a fantasy it gets a little tricky.

Sometimes we fantasize about things that we do not really plan to do. In fact, that is part of the whole fantasy experience. Keep in mind that just because you think it, does not mean you need to or even really want to try it. For instance, you may have a fantasy about being with someone of the same sex. This is normal and does not mean you are homosexual.

The only time a fantasy becomes dangerous is when it is either about something that you know is completely wrong, such as sex with a child or when you become so engrossed in your fantasies that it begins to affect your day to day life. If you do have these types of fantasies, you should talk to someone you are close to and let them know you are having thoughts that are making you uncomfortable.

These thoughts can quickly lead to an obsessive-compulsive disorder and feelings of low self-esteem so it is best if they are dealt with. There is no need to feel any guilt about having a fantasy. Just keep in mind that it is not reality. The fact is that everyone has them and you may or may not want to talk to your partner about it.
