Ten top tips for choosing your reception venue



Is the date you want available, – There is nothing worse than getting all excited about a venue that you think meets all of your needs, only to discover that it isn’t available for your wedding date. Save your emotions by finding out if the date you want is available.
Are you able to supply your own alcohol, – One way to trim the budget is to provide your own alcohol. However, be wary; you may need to factor in corkage charges as well.
Is the venue able to cater for a sit down reception, – You may wish to have dancing as well, so check that there is suitable room for this.
Are you able to arrange your own caterers or must you use their caterers and will they be able to meet your specific dietary requirements,
Do you want fireworks displays and are they allowed at the venue,
What time will the venue be available until, – Some venues may only be suitable for a luncheon reception.
What time will the bar close, – It could be distressing to have booked your venue until 3am only to find the bar is required to close at midnight!
Are there any noise restrictions, – You may wish to have a live band.
Will there be a PA system for speeches, – You may not wish to have to shout to be heard over several hundred guests.
Is there secure storage and insurance available for presents and personal belongings,
