Top 10 War Scenes

Wars can be epic battles or small fights. When they take place on the screen they can be broad or personal. You can actually become a part of them if you choose. They can be terrifying, stunning and even spectacular sights. Here are the top ten war scenes from films.

10. Braveheart
The famous last battle scene where Mel Gibson declares “They can take our lives, but they can never take our freedom.”

9. Gladiator
The fights in the arena, of course.

8. Starship Troopers
Over ten thousand ships are killed in less than half an hour and makes the attack look like a swarm of bugs hitting a windshield.

7. Zulu
A seemingly unfair battle as thousands of Zulu warriors come over a hill to attack a mere hundred and fifty British soldiers.

6. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Eowyn gets to go to battle like one of the men and hold her weight.

5. A Bridge Too Far
A great Oscar winning cast, but the scene that takes it is the shot of parachutes falling from the sky into battle at the bridge.

4. Tora! Tora! Tora!
The epic unforeseen attack on the Pearl Harbour base by Japanese planes.

3. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The breaching of the indestructible fortress. Three hundred men against ten thousand, that’s quite a battle.

2. Saving Private Ryan
The sickening realism of the Omaha Beach landing scene with its hand held camera work even made veterans have flashbacks.

1. Apocalypse Now
Pick any scene and you’re there but the ruthless helicopter attack on the Vietnamese village was a definite comment on the war.
