27 Dresses

This film goes one step further than “Always a Bridesmaid,” and addresses the question of why. After all, someone who has 27 bridesmaid dresses in her wardrobe, but not a wedding gown of her own, seems to be missing the boat somewhere, and this film gives us a glimpse into exactly where that is, in a funny, light-hearted way.

Jane is the forever bridesmaid. She’s the altruistic sort, who is far more concerned with the happiness of others than she is to seeing to her own. But now she is faced with a terrible dilemma. She is asked to be in the wedding of her younger sister. The problem is that her younger sister is marrying the man that Jane has been secretly in love with from afar. She had no idea her baby sister was actually seeing the man and how she handles this moral dilemma is pretty much the subject of this romantic comedy. Will she continue to be the altruistic sort, and put her own happiness on the shelf, After all, this is her baby sister here – the one whose happiness above all should be important to her. What’s Jane going to do, Break her sister’s heart by stealing her husband to be,

Once Jane meets her sister’s husband to be, however, her decision seems to get easier. She gets some shocks of her own and realizes that maybe this man she admired so much from afar is not at all the person she thought he was. But then, again, maybe he is actually so much more.

This movie is sweet and it is charming, and definitely worth viewing.
