Analyze That (2002)

‘Analyze That’ was an interesting look into a world that had been studied from other angles for years. Watching one of the most accomplished actors in classic mafia films was quaint at first, but became unsettling and discouraging, while realising that the jokes were all aimed at the very things mafia lovers had grown to know and love.
After coming to grips with the things that had been changed from the traditional mob films, the movie took on a kind of whimsical feel that was part spoof and part homage. This was comforting and allowed fans to identify and question what they had come to accept over so many years.
Seeing a mafia boss in need of therapy was very much a wakeup call about the world we live in now and how different it was from the glory days of mob films, where every man was required to worry about himself. It brought into light the amount of stock our society now puts in therapy and psychoanalysis, bringing a flood of other questions into the heads of people who believe that mafia activity remains as strong as it has been in the past.
Altogether, the film is a fun look at a world that most people are familiar with on a much more serious and horrifying level and opens up questions about the world we live in today and the possibility that this could be a modern look at how things have changed from the recent past.
