Basic Aquarium Care

An aquarium inside the house offers a relaxing view. The colourful and live aquatic creatures inside neutralise stress and bring tranquillity. However, taking care of the fish and maintaining an aquarium requires passion and commitment; fish are living creatures that need attention and care. A hobbyist will have a challenging experience with it, but it will help develop his personality and discipline.

A daily routine is very important to keep the fish alive and the aquarium clean. You can do this by maintaining the proper water temperature for the fish. To monitor, a floating thermometer or a temperature strip can do the job. The ideal water temperature for tropical freshwater fish is 77 degrees Fahrenheit. To know more about the proper water temperature for other fish, you may refer to the local pet shop in your area.

Keep in mind that sudden changes in the temperature will make the fish sick — or perhaps even kill them. Dead or sick fish should be removed to save the healthy ones. If this won’t be done, the water will get contaminated and every other fish will surely die. You must also check the air pumps and filters of the aquarium to maintain the health of the fish. The water should also be refreshed under correct intervals and procedure.

Feeding the fish is the most exciting part of fish care, but do not feed them too much. Uneaten food can rot and lead to illnesses among the fish, so better to feed them the proper amount.

Watching these live creatures swim is great fun and even better with a clear view through the glass. So take care to clean the outside surface of the aquarium for a clearer view.
