Berger Blanc Suisse – Dog Breed Information and Pictures

The breed known as the Berger Blanc Suisse originated in Switzerland. This specific shepherd dog was widely popular because it had an advantage over other shepherds. Their distinct white coat would set them apart from the wolves that would try and attack the livestock.

The Berger Blanc Suisse went from Europe to Australia and Canada and then to the United States. This dog proved to be a wonderful asset to farmers and ranchers. The breed is now known as the American Canadian White Shepherd. The Berger Blanc Suisse has been used for tasks, such as guides, explosive detection, tracking, search and rescue, police dog, and the list goes on.

The Berger Blanc Suisse is well-known for its strength and powerful physique. Their body is well-balanced and displays a high degree of agility and endurance. One of the most noticeable attributes is its well-muscled form. This muscular body shows off the athletic nature of this breed.

The distinctive white coat is referred to as a double coat. These types of fur coverings allow the dog to be protected from predators and weather. The outer layer is generally medium length. It is dense and lies close to the body. The undercoat is short, soft, and fine.
