Bisben – Dog Breed Information and Pictures

The Bisben is a Himalayan sheepdog that originated in India. There are many names that this breed goes by. These names include the Himalayan Bisben Sheepdog, the Himalayan Bisben, the Bisben of Himalyay and the Bisben Shepherd. This breed of dog has not only been utilised as an efficient guardian, but it has also been noted to be an excellent game hunter. This characteristic is related to their keen instincts.

The general appearance of the Bisben is strong and sturdy. The shape is lean although the muscular tone is evident. This is a breed that is powerful and can withstand the elements of nature. One theory is that this breed was spawned by sheepdogs and wolves. The physique and the sheer strength of this canine suggest that this claim could be, indeed, accurate.

The coat is thick and harsh. It is typically of medium length. The colours are usually black and white, but grey has been known to appear in some dogs of the breed. The patterns in colour appear to be similar to those found in a wolf, again substantiating the aforementioned claim about its origin.

Great care should be taken as this dog can be vicious but not generally to their owners. They do not like strangers and can view them as a threat to their family or the animals that they are protecting. The protective nature and aggressive instinct are crucial personality traits of an efficient guard dog or a flock guardian. Training should be implemented at a relatively young age. They do not respond well to other dogs unless they have been socialised consistently early on in their lifetime.
