Bruno Jura Hound – Dog Breed Information and Pictures

The Bruno Jura Hound or Bruno Jura Laufhund originated in the mountainous region of the Switzerland-France border. This is considered a rare breed of dog. It is related to the Schweizer Laufhund and the Saint Hubert Hound.

The Bruno Jura Hound is a highly skilled hunter. They can hunt an array of animals but are masterful when it comes to small game such as hare and fox but can also hunt larger game like deer. One of the most desirable talents they possess is the ability to follow a slight trace of scent. This efficiency also applies to tough terrain.

The Bruno is one of six varieties of Swiss Hounds. There are only two characteristics that set them apart; the colour of their coat and size. At first appearance, a few things set this breed apart from other Swiss hounds. Their head is broad and their skin is loose which displays many wrinkles. The fur coat tends to generally be short haired and coarse. The Bruno is considered average size dog that can reach 24 inches (61 cm) and weighs between 25 to 45 lbs (11 to 20 kg).
