Choosing the Bridesmaids’ Flowers

While the bride is the centre of attention on her wedding day, she is not the only person that has a chance to shine. If you are like most brides, you carefully selected your bridesmaids from among your closest family and friends. While you have some definite opinions, you also want to make sure that they enjoy the day as well. Luckily, choosing the flowers that your attendants will carry does not have to be an ordeal.

Like the rest of their attire, the bridesmaids’ flowers should coordinate with both the styling and colours of your ensemble. Many bridesmaids’ dresses are just simplified versions of the wedding gown and you can incorporate this idea into their flowers as well. There are several ways to accomplish this. One idea is to take the same blooms that you will be carrying and use them to make smaller, simpler versions for your girlfriends to carry. Or, you can create every bouquet the same except for one small personal addition. They could each choose matching flowers in different colours, or add one or two unexpected blossoms that were personally selected by each bridesmaid to show off their personalities. Always make sure that you have an unbiased bystander double check the continuity of the overall picture. They may pick up issues that you would otherwise miss. Also, don’t be afraid to ask your bridesmaids to make small adjustments if necessary.

Sharing your wedding day with your dearest friends is a special rite of passage. Get the input of your bridesmaids when choosing their flowers. Follow a theme, but allow them to add personal touches as well. Finally, have an uninvolved party double check the continuity of your design choices.
