Independence Hall: A Historical Landmark

Independence Hall is one of the most beautiful and historical landmarks. Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, it is built of red brick and has a highest point of 41 metres above the ground. In 1753, the building was completed as Pennsylvania State House for Pennsylvania’s province and became a historical and well-known landmark because it is the place where the Declaration of Independence was debated and adopted. Independence Hall was listed as a World Heritage Site and became part of the larger Independence National Historical Park, which was built by Woolley and designed in Gregorian style by Edmund Woolley and Andrew Hamilton.

This is a place where you can take the kids because, aside from being historical, there are so many things that your kids can learn about. Significant events that took place in this landmark are the approval and signing of the Declaration of Independence, which was debated in the Assembly Room of the Pennsylvania State House by 13 delegates of the British colonies. This is also the place where the Constitution was adopted; and the place where the government of Pennsylvania was established, as well as the place where the nation was founded.

As you take the kids around the building, they can see the two main and important rooms in the house, the Assembly Room and the courtroom. The building was restored to its 18th century appearance for a more attractive and effective look. You can also see the furniture that was used by the people who played an important role in history.
