Online Dating as Taboo in Today’s Community

Taboo is defined as ban or prohibition against objects, words and actions which are considered offensive by a certain culture, society, group or community. Some taboos are banned by the law and could lead to serious penalties; while others result in shame and public humiliation.

Online dating, also known as Internet dating, has spread throughout communities worldwide. According to studies, the most visited sites on the internet are online dating sites. Sexual relationships between the members of the different online dating sites may lead to unwanted sexual diseases. It also can result in premarital sex and early marriage. Many teen moms and unwanted babies were developed because of these sites. The reason on why these people were focused on these sites is because of its easy handling and membership. By simply registering their personal characters, uploading their photos and displaying sexy images, even their personal contact numbers, they can now find their match mate globally. This makes them easy to find their partner on the net. These online sites offer webcams on which you can view the members who are online on live cast, in which you can easily communicate with other members and even upload or display nude and vulgar photos. This tempts every site member to view the accounts of some online members. There were some negative results because of these online dating sites. According to them, they were unsatisfied because some of them were faked by their match. Some were replacing their photo banners with pornography models to attract the viewers. It is one of the society’s problems as of now.
