Miami Art Museum for Entertainment

The Miami Art Museum (MAM), sustained by both public and private funding, is recognised by Florida as a major cultural institution. It is located in downtown Miami and was established in 1996 as the Center for the Fine Arts. Its focus is on modern art.

The Miami Art Museum is an enjoyable place to be visited by families, especially kids. The museum carries contemporary works from the 1940s up to recent times and historical art collections, as well as displays of new international art exhibits and collections. The museum also offers hands-on workshops, courses, and lectures on cultural studies.

MAM also offers “Second Saturdays are Free for Families”, a programme for drop-in visitors, from 1 to 4 pm. It highlights hands-on activities for adults and children. Moreover, second Saturdays include story-telling, guided tours, live music, dance performances, and gallery games. This is a pleasurable time for adults and their children, as they create art, relish their time together, and discover something new in the museum.

The Visitor’s Gallery, on the upper level and plaza level, are interactive spaces which feature videos, reading materials, hands-on activities, and writing stations. ‘MAM in the Neighborhood’ is a free summer programme that includes tours throughout Miami-Dade County to community centres by MAM’s gallery teachers and museum visits. They also provide MAM Funpacks, which contain art supplies for children. There is also the MAM Store, which is located in the museum lobby, that offers a wide selection of art books and exhibition catalogues in Spanish and English, distinctive office and home furnishings, designer jewellery, delightful children’s toys and books, unique stationery and cards, and more.
