Niagara Falls, New York

The term ‘Niagara’ derived from the Iroquois Indian term, ‘Onguiaahra’, which means ‘the strait’. Niagara Falls is a metropolis in Niagara County, New York, which was included in the state on 17 March 1892 when Governor Roswell P. Flower approved a legislative bill into law, thus leading to the development of the city. Historically, the municipality was surrounded by factories that used the power of the waterfalls for energy. At the end of the 19th century, Niagara was totally an industrial area because of the huge energy potential provided by the rapidly-flowing Niagara River. At present, Niagara is considered one of the top ten tourist spots in the United States, visited by approximately 10 million people every year.

Niagara provides several attractions suitable for the whole family, especially for children. Kids will surely love viewing the variety of marine life, from seals and penguins to sea lions and sharks, offered at The Aquarium of Niagara Falls. Historical events and important personalities involved in founding the city are recognised at the Daredevil Museum. Whirlpool State Park offers a superb hiking experience for the whole family, which takes 30 minutes from the parking spot to the whirlpool and 40 minutes to return. Helicopter Tours allow you to view the majestic beauty and power of the falls from the air, whilst Whirlpool Jetboat will let you experience the world’s famous rapids, stone-walled canyon, and legendary Whirlpool. Fort Niagara will remind you of a day in a soldier’s life through re-enactment plays.

Niagara Falls is an ideal place for enjoyment and learning. Kids will definitely have fun whilst gaining more knowledge.
