Old English Terrier – Dog Breed Information and Pictures

The Old English Terrier is often also known as the Black Terrier. This is an accurate name as the colourings of Old English Terriers are strictly completely black, or black with small patches of white markings on their chest.

Besides making an adequate companion, the Old English Terrier is also best known for its working ability. They have a very high amount of stamina compared to other dog breeds and they will use this extra energy to help their owner. Old English Terriers have been bred for many different working tasks, in which most of them involve speed and agility.

While Old English Terriers are relatively small, weighing in between 6 and 15 kilograms, they still need a lot of exercise and a big outside environment in which to play. They have a height between 30 and 46 centimetres on average, so they don’t take up a lot of space. Still, they have a lot of energy and since they are a working dog, they should not be kept in small quarters such as apartments or kennels. They need a lot of exercise on a daily basis.

The Old English Terrier is a very friendly dog. They are always loyal to their owners and love to interact and play. They are good with families and can often always be trusted to be around young children. They really enjoy the company of humans and will even be friendly to strangers, which is in contrast to a lot of other dog breeds.
