Owning Multiple Rabbits

Having a rabbit as a pet can be a great experience. But rabbits are sociable animals and sometimes they desire more company. Choosing to get a second rabbit, or more in some cases, is a very big decision that you should think about carefully. Getting another rabbit is very beneficial to your pet. Rabbits need companionship so they will definitely enjoy having the company of another; however, you should make sure to have all rabbits spayed or neutered before you put them in a cage together to ensure that they will not fight.

If you spend a lot of time at home with your rabbit then they may not feel the need to have other rabbits around. But if you work long hours and no one else is home, another rabbit might make all the difference to your bunny. Pairs seem to work out quite well for most rabbit owners. If you have too many rabbits it may cause some upset and confusion. Ultimately, they should be comfortable and happy rather than stressed or overwhelmed.

Some rabbits may not be interested in living with another rabbit, but they may be receptive to other animals like birds or guinea pigs. Even a domesticated cat could make a great companion for your rabbit. Rabbits can become depressed if they feel lonely so stay aware of this. Pay attention to your rabbit’s behaviour and seek out another rabbit if necessary. Multiple rabbits are not all that more expensive than one. Consider the benefits of having a pair.
