Pushchair Safety Tips

Pushchairs provide assistance for parents in carrying and taking care of their babies. However, it is not always safe to let your baby in a pushchair without giving proper attention. Here are some basic safety tips to consider while using pushchairs.

First, be sure that you have bought the right size pushchair for your child. Accordingly, the pushchair’s padding should rest on the right place for your child’s body. While sitting in the pushchair, babies should not be able to reach things that shouldn’t be touched which might, in some instances, harm them. The proper distribution of your baby’s weight will prevent imbalance. Second, when using a pushchair, see to it that your child is secure by being properly strapped in, yet not too tightly. A strap will keep your child from falling out or climbing off the pushchair. Third, it is best for you to regularly check your child’s pushchair. Make sure that the brakes are working properly and that the cables, pads and latches are free from any dirt or obstructions. Check also that the wheels are still in good condition. Some pushchairs have removable wheels, so it is necessary for you to secure them regularly. Fourth, new models of pushchairs have large areas of storage at the back, so it is advisable not to overload them in order to prevent them from tipping back. Finally, never ever leave your child in a pushchair unattended, and be sure at all times that you or another adult are nearby.
