Over Her Dead Body

This movie is strictly for those who laugh very easily. Don’t expect to be thrilled off your seat by this romantic film, in which a ghost tries to prevent her boyfriend, correction, ex-boyfriend, from falling in love with a new girl.
Unfortunately, Over Her Dead Body is going to make you wonder where you saw it before…Your nine-year-old casually daydreamed it up, perhaps, Or have you seen Topper, of which this plot is vaguely reminiscent at times, Over Her Dead Body is not particularly entertaining. Not just senior citizens, anyone would be better off watching I Dream of Jeannie, as they did decades ago on TV, than seeing this one.
If ever Eva Longoria Parker was meant to disappoint, this is her moment. Here’s the plot outline: On a visit to a psychic (played by Lake Bell), Henry (Paul Rudd), tries to make peace with his dead girlfriend of a year ago (Eva), which he still misses terribly. He instead, finds himself attracted to the fortuneteller. Seeing this from wherever she is, Longoria crops up as a ghost and proceeds to makes every possible attempt to stymie this budding romance.
From here on, nothing happens. Really. Boring, predictable and downhill from the word go, Over Her Dead Body may be useful for those who missed all those other movies that use the ghost spin to prop up the plot. Think Ghost, Blithe Spirit and yes, Topper.
This may be a romantic comedy, but it will barely keep you awake for its one-and-a-half hours. The saving grace is Lake Bell, who plays the psychic Ashley rather brilliantly.
