Braque d’Auvergne – Dog Breed Information and Pictures

The Braque d’Auvergne originated in France, the mountainous area of the Auvergne province to be exact. They were bred because they have a high level of stamina and endurance, which allows them to hunt without easily tiring. This dog has roots to ancient breeds.

The physique is strong, sturdy and athletic. They typically have distinct characteristics of the Braque breed. They can work tirelessly and have the ability to handle a vast array of tasks. Hunting is their favourite activity and will always look forward to the thrill. The Braque d’Auvergne has inherent instincts that allow it to be keen in their senses, which permit them to be highly efficient.

The area around the eyes and ears of the Braque d’Auvergne should always be black, if it is not then it is not a pure breed. The rest of the coat is roan, with black spots on a white background. The roan coat (also referred to as ticked or mottled) gives it a blue appearance. The fur coat is short and glossy. The skin tends to be a little loose and supple.

This breed can be well suited to indoor family life but it should have a daily exercise plan. They need constant interaction to be healthy and happy. They are loving and kind but the Braque d’Auvergne can require training. Normally they notice what they need to be doing but socialization skills should be implemented to help encourage the dog in uncertain surroundings.
