This is a highly energetic breed that has plenty of endurance and stamina. This breed is very easy to care for, no extensive grooming or special training is required.

The Curly Coated Retriever’s fur coat is probably the most distinguishing feature of this breed. It is usually what allows people to tell what type of dog it is. It is a single layer coat which means that it is not a heavy shedder. The unique coat is made up of an over abundance of tight curls. The colours are solid and are only come in two shades, black or brown. Occasionally, there are white hairs but they are well blended in the coat. There should be no patterning or markings of any sort in this breed.

The Curly Coated Retriever needs plenty of exercise. They are happy and active but they need an outlet to burn off some of that built up energy. This is especially important for its overall health and mental stimulation. Their favourite activity is swimming.
