Duke Of Edinburgh – An Overview



If you enjoy being challenged, want to take on a project that will last you several years and lead to an excellent award that will look great on your CV and is well respected, why not think about getting into the Duke Of Edinburgh Award scheme.

You can start you Duke Of Edinburgh quest once you are 14. There are three levels of award to work through: the bronze award, silver award and finally the prestigious Duke Of Edinburgh Gold Award. As you work towards each award you will take part in a wide variety of activities that will help you get fitter, give you a chance to work in the community, improve your social and communication skills and go on expeditions. Plus if you make it all the way to Gold, there is a residential opportunity waiting, with lots of your friends and a chance to meet new people too!

Many schools have a teacher who volunteers to co-ordinate the Duke of Edinburgh award within the school, so check around and find out what happens at your school. If there isn’t anyone running it for your school, don’t despair, you can join as an individual, or you can see if you can get you school interested in taking part.
