Europa Park (Germany)

Europa Park, located in south-western Germany between Strasbourg and Freibourg, is the 2nd most popular park in Germany and is second to Disneyland Paris. The park has over 4 million visitors in 2007.

The theme park is open from March until the end of October (summer) and from the beginning of December until the middle of January (winter). The park is divided into 14 various areas, named after regions or countries in Europe. The park’s mascot is Euromouse, a grey-coloured mouse. He has a friend elephant called Eurofant.

Europa Park is owned and run by the Mack family, which produced circus vehicles in 1780, circus waggons in 1880, and rollercoasters in 1921. The rides are actually called MACK Rides. Because of this, Europa Park has two water coaster rides: the Super Splash and the Euro-Mir. The Silver Star, however, is one of its few rides that was not designed by Mack but by B&M Switzerland, since they do not make hyper coaster rides.

The park also features water-based rides, like the Viking Ship, Viking Boat Ride, Elf Ride, Poseidon, Atlantica SuperSplash, and many more. It also has an indoor playground for kids called Casa D’Aventura, for those who do not want to have some fun in the water. Aside from the attractions, it also has a resort, four hotels to stay in, and a recreation centre called Colosseo, a Roman-like coliseum.
