Around 24 million people are obese or overweight. Looking at the current figure if the same scenario continues you will find one in every four persons obese by the year 2010. Unhealthy eating and stressful lifestyle are largely responsible for this. There are about 200,000 deaths in UK each year, which are premature due to heart stokes or heart disease and are a result of unhealthy diet. The once who survive are left with a pain which can be life long or a lifestyle which is very restricted. By maintaining a healthier diet you are saving yourself from cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, stokes etc.
Risks
Minerals and vitamins found in certain vegetables and fruits are of great importance to our body. Absence of these can result in eating disorders and malnutrition. There are various deficiencies caused in the absence of these like;
Vitamin A; This deficiency can result in weakening of immune system that means that fall ill very often. Even excess of Vitamin A makes your bones weak in the later stages of your life. Foods like cheese, oily fish, eggs and liver are rich with vitamin A. You should not venture into eating it very regularly. Pregnant women are not advised to eat any of the Vitamin A Foods.
Vitamin B6 are present in whole cereals, poultry and peanuts. Deficiency results in irritability and depression
Vitamin B12 is present in meat, cheese, salmon and eggs. Deficiency results in anemia, Due to deficiency of Red blood cells not required oxygen is sent to the blood. It makes you breathless, faint and tired.
Vitamin C is present in peppers, oranges, broccoli and cabbage. Lack of Vitamin C can result in tiredness, aching joints, Brittle teeth and bleeding gums. High deficiency of the same is called as scurvy.
Vitamin D is present in eggs and oily fish. Weakness in muscles, aching bones and weak bones, are a result of this in deficiency.
Calcium is present in milk, broccoli, cheese and cabbage. Tooth decay and Bone decay are caused by this deficiency.
Folic acid is present in Brussels sprouts, broccoli, peas and brown rice. Vitamin B12 and Folic acid functions hand in hand. Hence this deficiency can also result in anemia. This is a must for women who are expecting.
Iron is present in beans, meat, whole grains, curly kale and watercress. This deficiency can result in anemia.
Magnesium is present in nuts, spinach and bread. This deficiency can result in teeth and bone decay. Can also cause tiredness.
Vitamin B3 is present in pork, beef, eggs and milk. This deficiency can result in dizziness, skin problem and tongue swelling.
Potassium is present in vegetables, bananas, seeds and nuts. This deficiency can result in irregular heartbeat, nausea, diarrhea and irritability.
Vitamin B2 is present in rice, mushrooms, milk and eggs. Deficiency can result in cracked skin, sensitivity towards light, dizziness, sleeping difficulty.
Vitamin B1 is present in pork, peas, milk, cheese and vegetables. Headaches and tiredness are caused by deficiency of Vitamin B1
Zinc is present in shellfish, wheat germ, meat, cheese, and milk. Skin problems, slow wound healing, hair loss and diarrhea are result of Zinc deficiency
We need to make sure, that with proper diet, one should not get carried away by excess eating as it can lead to further complications.
Fats : You should make sure that, excess quantity of fat in your daily meal can be proved hazards to your health. Fat eventually increases weight and leads to obesity. Obesity in the long run can give rise to various other heart ailments and also risk of colorectal cancer, which is the very common in UK among women.
Sugar : Access of sugar can cause tooth decay.
Salt ; Access of salt can cause blood pressure. People with blood pressure complaints are at high risk to get heart ailments.
