Indecent Proposal

You first need to ask what girl would decline an offer for one night with Robert Redford, let alone earning a million dollars for the occasion,
Nevertheless, director Adrian Lyne raises these questions in his movie ‘Indecent Proposal’ and to make it even more interesting, the girl concerned is happily married. The film reflects the plot from the movie ‘Honeymoon in Vegas’, a much loved classic. The happy couple in ‘Indecent Proposal’ are played by Demi Moore (Diana) and Woody Harrelson (David). Moore’s character is a real estate agent while Harrelson’s is an architect and the two careers provide the first suggestion of the couples matching harmony and contrasting disharmony, in art versus commerce.
Hints of Diana’s irrationality are already clear early on, as are their differences and somewhat incompatibility.
Lyne unabashedly draws on money, sex, sweat, flesh and thrusting to draw audiences, before the real temptation in the movie begins. This occurs when sexy billionaire John Gage enters and falls in love with Diana.
Gage stealthily eyes his prey when he sees Diana appreciating an expensive dress and stealing sweets. The plot is set when David loses big and Gage offers one million dollars for a night with Diana.
Critics describe the film as sexist propaganda for good cause, where sad, lonely men fall in love with women for sale. The movie also too closely reflects ‘Honeymoon in Vegas’, which drew much applause from crowds, something that ‘Indecent Proposal’ failed to do. ‘Indecent Proposal’ is a crass movie, with little realistic thought and even less sense.
