Nicotine Anonymous

For smokers who want to quit but, need help and support, go look for a smokers’ support group. Being with others trying to kick the habit or with those who have successfully stopped is very important. Nicotine Anonymous may be the best answer. This programme is based on the same premise as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
Nicotine Anonymous is not as widely available as other anonymous programmes. This is because nicotine is not yet considered a dangerous substance. However, programmes are available online.
Smokers who join this programme are expected to attend meetings and positively support all members of the group. Because of this requirement, many smokers enjoy the programme. Members usually make themselves available to each other at any time, day or night.
While the programme is a good support option, it is not a foolproof method. However, it is a programme that can safely be used with other cessation programmes. Nicotine Anonymous does not use any medications or nicotine replacement products as part of the programme. This makes it an ideal option for people who want to quit smoking naturally.
This programme uses a step-by-step programme to help smokers quit. With the motto ‘One Day at a Time’ standing watch over all the meetings, smokers find solace in that simple phrase. The Serenity Prayer is also used during the meetings.
As time progresses and smokers stay off cigarettes, they are rewarded with key chains or other trinkets to mark certain anniversaries of their cessation date. This includes the one month, six month and one year marks.
