Cows, sheep and pigs graze the fields in search of food. In case the field is contaminated with human or animal stools, the eggs get swallowed by the animals. This in turn settles down in the animal’s intestine. This in turn is taken by humans in form of meat.
There are various types of tapeworms and very few affect people. These are largely found in developing countries where the sewage is not treated properly and the drinking water is not hygienic for human intake. Eating raw or uncooked meat of pork, fish and beef can contain tapeworm larve which can be a cause for concerns. Countries such as the Africa, Middle East, South East Asia, and Eastern Europe are largely affected.
