Mold removal without damaging your home

Mold removal is a difficult task. A lot of people attack it with vigour and end up damaging parts of their home. Making sure that you carry out your mold removal in a safe way is vital to making sure that your home remains in pristine condition. How do you do that though? Is it possible to do it without calling in the experts?

Check the area

The first step should always be to check the area. While it is possible to carry out mold removal without calling in a specialist, sometimes that is the only sensible path. If the mould has got so bad that your walls are starting to go rotten, then it is time to call in a specialist. Unless you know what you are doing you are more likely to cause additional damage if you try to carry out mold removal of this magnitude without the skills to do so.

Once you have checked the area, if it is something that you are capable of dealing with, then it is important to act quickly. The longer you leave it, the more likely the mold will have chance to get into the walls and start rotting them. As soon as you discover the mold, get the equipment that you need and get to work.

Seal the mold spores

A lot of people say you should not use a brush for mold removal. They are technically right, as a brush will spread the spores around your house. This is why it is important to seal the spores first when using a brush. All it needs is a quick spray of water and the spores will be sealed. You will then be able to use a brush when carrying out mold removal which will make your efforts more effective and stop the spores from spreading around your house.

It is also important to use a specific mold removal bleach. Just regular bleach will not kill the mold. A bleach that has an active agent in it will kill the mold spores that it comes into contact with and stop them from growing back in the future. All of these methods work together to make sure that your home will be free from damage for as long as possible.
