10. ‘*61’ (2001)
This movie isn’t found on a lot of lists, but it should be. Had this film had a theatrical release, rather than television, it would have become more popular, but I still think this movie, about the Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris homerun race, is well worth watching.
9. ‘The Sandlot’ (1993)
Kids playing baseball. Reminds us all of our youth and the funny little things that happened, such as lost balls in a neighbour’s yard. The moments that made it one of the best times of our lives.
8. ‘Major League’ (1989)
What do you do when you have a crap team and are expected to lose, You win of course! Pure comedy.
7. ‘The Pride of the Yankees’ (1942)
Gary Cooper plays the famous, Lou Gehrig, in this biographical film that takes us up to the day he gave his farewell ‘luckiest man’ speech.

Misfit kids become champions, thanks to their grizzly coach and a secret weapon. Who doesn’t love underdog kids playing baseball and beating the snotty, bratty kids,
5. ‘Eight Men Out’ (1988)
True story of the 1919 Black Sox scandal about bribery and deceit. A bit of history intertwined with personal stories, friendships and loyalties.
4. ‘Field of Dreams’ (1989)
Hearing a voice from God, a farmer, played by Kevin Costner, builds a baseball field on his land and must figure out what its purpose is.
3. ‘A League of Their Own’ (1992)
Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, can you say instant winner, This drama/comedy, about the wartime women’s baseball league, is full of great one-liners and interesting trivia.
2. ‘The Natural’ (1984)
Robert Redford, in his prime, stars as a seemingly average player, who suddenly becomes extraordinary. A great drama.

Susan Sarandon portrays a baseball fan who offers players ‘advice’ and creates an interesting and humorous love triangle with two players, one an aging minor league catcher and the other a hot young rookie.
